· It is important to talk to your doctor about the final stage of your life.
· What are your questions, wishes and expectations?
· Are you able and willing to be resuscitated in the event of a cardiac arrest?
· What does suffering mean to you? What treatments are available to relieve pain and suffering?
· Do you want treatment, or would you prefer not to have it? If so, draw up a living will.
· Are you considering euthanasia?
· How can you bring your life to a close in the best possible way?
· Reflecting on and discussing the end of your life
· Most people find it difficult to think about and talk about dying. It is often hard for you and those around you to bring up the subject. · Perhaps you already know that you have an illness and cannot get better, or that you only have a few months or weeks left to live. Or perhaps you are elderly and looking forward to the end. Perhaps you are healthy, but would like your doctor to know how you feel about the end of your life. You may also want to know what your GP or doctor thinks about euthanasia.
· Perhaps you’d like to reflect on and discuss what kind of care and treatment you’d like in the future.
If you’d like to discuss any of the above points, you can book an appointment with Marlous, the geriatric care assistant. The appointment can take place at the practice, or at your home if you prefer.
